Sewing handmade Eco-friendly essentials in Nanaimo BC
This listing is for a custom choice of fabric and length of reusable straw bag. These bags are 3" wide and can be made to any length from 8" to 14" for that perfect fit. Please order at least 1" longer than the length of your straw or utensils. Browse through the cotton fabric options for the outer case, and I will select the zippers, PUL and solid coloured cotton for the liners in co-ordinating colours.
So you've switched to reusable straws instead of single use plastics, but how do you keep them clean in your purse, and what on earth do you do with the used straws until you can get them home to wash them? These new bags have a dirty compartment and a clean compartment. They are made with a cotton outer, single layer of waterproof Eco-PUL liner on one side, and a cotton liner on the other side. These are easy to wash and quick to dry by hand or in the washing machine. Zippered closures in different colours make them easy identify which side is which.
* does not include the straw

"I have had several of these snack bags for years and they're FANTASTIC! As an added bonus, Taryn runs this business from her home which allows her to balance her professional and family life. Get yours!"
"Taryn, I can not say enough about all the items I've purchased from you! They are incredible, great quality and super functional. I will forever support your amazing talents! Thank you so much for making this earth greener and more sustainable!"
"This is really an ingenious product! I always struggled with what to do with my reusable straws once I had used them when I was away from home. This bag has a section for your unused straws and a protected pouch for used straws. Brilliant! Great communication. I was given many options of cloth once I gave some colour and pattern ideas. I get a lot of use out of this straw pouch! Also great that you can choose a length based on the straws you use."
owner, designer, maker
I have been sewing for over 25 years. I started by designing and making unique handmade gifts for my friends and family. Now that I have two of my own young children, I find escape in creating after they are tucked into bed in the evenings. I work part time during the week and my creative endeavors allow me the flexibility to spend quality time with my kids.
Taryn’s Cloth Creations began almost by accident back in 2014 when I made my daughter some cloth diapers for her dolls and thought I’d make just a few extra to post on the local mom’s swap group. Here I am now with an array of products available and supplying products to several local boutique stores.
Each item is lovingly handmade from start to finish by me in my smoke free and pet free home based studio. I strive to design items that are practical and durable as well as simple to operate. I aim to make life a little easier for busy families, while being gentle to the environment and giving back to the community in the process. I use upcycled and ecologically friendly materials and shop locally whenever possible to support other small businesses. I also guarantee my work, which means if there is ever a problem with something it can be returned to me and will be repaired or replaced.
What inspires me most is being outdoors. I am located in Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island and you might notice several elements of west coast inspiration in my work.
