What is Cork Leather?
A thin layer of cork is laminated to a fabric backing that can be sewn into for shoes, bags, and other accessories.
Cork comes from the bark of cork oak tree, grown in Portugal. Cork oak trees have their bark removed every 7-9 years without damaging the trunk. The bark then grows back and is reharvested making it a truly sustainable product.
Why is Cork Better than Standard Leather?
Cork leather is also known as vegan leather because there are no animals involved in the production.
It is available in a variety of colours and patterns.
Cork has naturally occurring anti mildew and anti bacterial qualities as well as water resistant properties.
Unlike the heavy chemical processing of leather, cork leather production is chemical-free and earth-friendly.
How to Clean your Cork:
Cork leather is low maintenance and easy to care for! All you need is a damp cloth and a mild soap to wipe it clean.

"Taryn, I can not say enough about all the items I've purchased from you! They are incredible, great quality and super functional. I will forever support your amazing talents! Thank you so much for making this earth greener and more sustainable!"

"This is really an ingenious product! I always struggled with what to do with my reusable straws once I had used them when I was away from home. This bag has a section for your unused straws and a protected pouch for used straws. Brilliant! Great communication. I was given many options of cloth once I gave some colour and pattern ideas. I get a lot of use out of this straw pouch! Also great that you can choose a length based on the straws you use."
Taryn Silver,
owner, designer, maker
I have been sewing for over 30 years. I started by designing and making unique handmade gifts for my friends and family. Now that I have two of my own children, I treasure my creative outlet which allow me the flexibility to work part time and spend quality time with my own family.
Taryn’s Cloth Creations began almost by accident back in 2014 when I made my daughter some cloth diapers for her dolls and thought I’d make just a few extra to post on the local mom’s swap group. Here I am now with an array of products available and supplying products to local boutique stores.
Each item is lovingly handmade from start to finish by me in my home based studio. I strive to design items that are practical and durable as well as simple to operate. I aim to make life a little easier for busy families, while being gentle to the environment and giving back to the community in the process. I use upcycled and ecologically friendly materials and shop locally whenever possible to support other small businesses. I also guarantee my work, which means if there is ever a problem with something it can be returned to me and will be repaired or replaced.
What inspires me most is being outdoors. I am located in Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island and you might notice several elements of west coast inspiration in my work.
